Nexium® and its active ingredient, NEXIUM, are proton pump inhibitors that work by reducing acid production in the stomach. They do this by blocking the pumps that produce gastric acid. Once a person starts taking Nexium® and its active ingredient, it works by decreasing the amount of acid that is produced in the stomach. This reduction in acid production causes the lining of the stomach to become more acidic, which in turn decreases the amount of acid that is absorbed by the body.

In other words, when you have to take Nexium® and its active ingredient, the symptoms of GERD are not relieved until your acid production is at its normal level.

In other words, Nexium® and NEXIUM work by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach. This means that patients who have GERD may experience relief of symptoms from acid reflux disease while taking NEXIUM® and/or NexIUM.

The recommended dose is one tablet a day. - Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don't feel an improvement immediately. - You may need to take Nexium 24HR for a few days before experiencing the full effect. - Nexium 24HR should be taken for at least 7 days and up to 14 days. - Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you do not feel better while taking Nexium 24HR. If symptoms persist or recur within 2 weeks of completing the course, consult your doctor. Further examination may be required.

Always read the label, use only as directed. Nexium 24HR is available in tablet and capsule form. Do not use in the wrong amount. If you are having symptoms, talk to your doctor. He/she may be able to tell you whether or not Nexium 24HR is the best medicine for you. However, this may be complicated by the possibility of taking certain other medicines. Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you have any other medical conditions, especially the conditions you have. Take this medicine at the same time each day and in the same manner to make sure that the effect remains active for the correct duration. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than prescribed. You may need different amounts or completely stop taking Nexium 24HR if you feel better. To relieve your symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux you should take a single tablet of Nexium 24HR every 12 hours. The dose may need to be increased in certain cases. This may be sudden and severe.
